Pioneers baseball team on a role in last three games

The Pioneers had a great second home game of the season, beating Albany 8-3 Thursday, April 11.

At the end of the second inning, the Huskies were up 2-1,with the only run coming from the Pioneers’ outfielder Chase Becker. The momentum changed at the bottom of the third inning, when first baseman Max Barclay hit a double. This sent Pitcher Joey Stuckmeyer, who was on third, to home, tying the game 2-2.

Pioneers’ score took off from there, with a run scored by Reese Young in the fourth inning. The fifth inning was the teams’ best with Becker hitting a single, which led to a run.

The Pioneers ended the game with 10 hits and one error. The Huskies had three errors and three hits, but collected six walks.

The Pioneers took on the Royalton Royals on the road the next day where they were also successful, winning 7-4. Young led the team scoring three runs, two hits and one RBI.

Max Barclay pitched five innings, throwing seven strikeouts. Becker pitched two innings with two strikeouts. Each team earned nine hits and Royalton had one error.

The Pioneers also took on Pequot Lakes on the road Monday April 15, winning 3-2. Again, Young led the team in batting with two runs and two walks. He also pitched with 10 strikeouts. Kyle Winscher followed with one run.

The Pioneers ended the game three hits while Pequot Lakes having four. Both team had one error. The Pioneers traveled to Milaca Thursday, April 18. They will host Mora Tuesday, April 23.
