Central MN Town Ball Report
Completing my thirteenth year at 1390 Granite City Sports with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) reports. Including game summaries, upcoming schedules, league standings, tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Arrowhead West/Section 2B: Cold Spring Springers, Moorhead Brewers, Moorhead Mudcats, Hamel Hawks, and Sobieski Skis, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County, New London-Spicer, Paynesville Pirates the Regal Eagles of the County Line League teams and the Foley Lumberjacks formerly of the Sauk Valley League, now the Victory League along with Sobieski Skis, St. Stephen Steves, Avon Lakers, St. Wendel Saints, Opole Bears, Freeport Black Sox, Royalton River Dogs and Nisswa Lightning, throughout their league playoffs, regional and state.
Central MN American Legion Baseball Playoff Update
HOSTED BY: ORTHOPEDIC SPORTS FIELD (OSF) SARTELL/SARTELL HIGH SCHOOL (SHS) The Sauk Rapids Post 254 defeated their rivals St. Cloud 76ers, they out hit them nine to three. They collected a double, they had four players with multi-hit games. They put up four runs in the first and they played errorless defense. Their starting pitcher was Ethan Swanson, he threw 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up two singles, one walk and he recorded nine strikeouts. Ben Rothstein threw 2/3 of an inning in relief to earn the save, he gave up one hit.
Olympic Watch Party Planned for Alise Post Willoughby
WAITE PARK (WJON News) -- St. Cloud's Alise Post Willoughby will be going for the gold again at this year's Olympic Games. Details of a watch party to help cheer her on have just been released. Watch parties are planned for both Thursday and Friday, August 1st and 2nd at noon at the Ultimate Sports Bar and Grill in Waite Park.
Albertville Anglers eliminated from postseason
The Albertville Anglers were eliminated from Sauk Valley League playoff contention on July 17. Albertville played Sauk Rapids at Lion’s Park in Albertville in the play-in game. It was either team’s ballgame going into the ninth inning but the Cyclones pulled away late to win and end the Anglers’ season. It was a 3-0 game after seven innings. Luke Welle started the game on the mound for Albertville and played well but the bats were silenced. Sauk Rapids’ starting pitcher Noah Jensen struck out 11 in six no-hit innings. Albertville ended the game with one hit and one error. Albertville finished the season with two wins.
Sartell's St. Cloud Orthopedics Field named best in state amidst improvements
SARTELL – The microbe health in St. Cloud Orthopedic Field’s soil is okay, but could be better. That’s according to Brian Deyak, owner of Pro Fields which has managed turf and field work at the baseball diamond in Sartell’s Northside Park for nearly a decade. Soil microorganisms aside, St. Cloud Orthopedic Field won the most recent Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association's Tink Larson Field of the Year award. ...
