Dark Desert Highway Band adds third performance at Tybee Post Theater
For nearly eight years, Statesboro's Dark Desert Highway Band has made an annual pilgrimage to Tybee Island — and this spring, demand is pushing them to expand. After consistently drawing strong crowds since January 2018 — with breaks only for COVID in 2020 and a 2023 illness year — the ten-piece Eagles tribute group has been invited to add a third show at the Tybee Post Theater on Friday, March 20, 2026. The traditional two-show run follows on Saturday, March 21 with both a matinee and evening performance. The invitation speaks to both the loyalty of Tybee audiences and the staying power of a band that has quietly built a reputation for tight harmonies and faithful musicianship. The talent behind the sound The Dark Desert Highway Band features 12 active members, with 10 performers rotating into each show. The current lineup includes Russ Lanier, Benjy Thompson, Perry Zeigler, Jackie Skinner, Mandy Fowler, Brandi Faller, Duane Borba, (Savannah's own - Rhett Mouchet), Sean Kent and Casey Yarbrough. ( Allen Amason and Stephen Jones are members but will not appear in the spring shows.) Bo Davidson, athlete-turned-artist, is Statesboro's latest emerging country musician
This past week, I got the opportunity to sit down at Cool Beanz Espresso Bar and chat with Bo about his life, the start of his career, and where he finds himself going from here. GC Q: Tell me who Bo Davidson is. How long have you been making music, and what prompted the start of your career as an artist? My name is Bo Davidson. I’m originally from Dublin, Georgia, and I grew up there before graduating from Montgomery County. I played just about every sport growing up, football, baseball, and I actually moved to Statesboro to try and walk on to the football team at Georgia Southern. When that didn’t work out, I found myself just living the student life and trying to figure out what was next. Music-wise, I’ve been playing guitar for about three years, and I’ve been writing music for roughly two years. I’ve been singing my entire life, my whole family sings gospel music, and my parents have played piano and sung for 40 to 50 years. I’m self-taught on guitar. What really started my career was just taking a chance with a buddy of mine, James Hutchson . We thought, “Why not try

Hindsight Film Festival brings history to life in Savannah
A few years ago, when award-winning filmmaker, Pat Longstreth, began submitting his work to film festivals, he noticed something. Longstreth, who’d directed a documentary about Miami news editor Bill Baggs as well as another about the 1971 Thiokol explosion in Woodbine, Ga, noted that festivals either didn’t have an historical documentary category, or such films weren’t highlighted in the same ways as other entries. Yet he knew so many historical documentaries worthy of bigger boosts and greater public attention. Longstreth leapt into action. Since then, in about a year’s time along with support from Anne Longstreth and The Better Angels Society, Pat Longstreth and his team have launched Hindsight Film Festival, the first of its kind in America to showcase independent, historical documentaries. More: Savannah's Gray's Reef Discovery Center displays $1M renovation The five-day inaugural event gets under way in the Hostess City, Wednesday, March 4, and concludes Sunday evening, March 8. Most of the festival’s 45 films are featured at Savannah's Otis S. Johnson Ph.D. Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery Street, while a handful debut in venues across the city, including the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum, Savannah State University, Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and Savannah Arts Academy.
