HONOLULU (KHON2) — An 88-year-old male pedestrian is dead following a motorcycle crash in Aiea in the area of the Moanalua Freeway off-ramp and Kaimakani Street.

The call came in just after 8 p.m. when a 21-year-old motorcyclist and a 22-year-old female passenger were heading westbound on the Moanalua freeway exiting the off-ramp for Moanalua Road.

According to HPD, the 88-year-old male pedestrian was walking outside of a marked crosswalk on the Moanalua Freeway, directly into the motorcyclist’s path.

The pedestrian was struck and succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the motorcyclist and his passenger were transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

HPD said this is Oahu’s 11th traffic fatality of 2024, “compared to 22 during the same time last year.”
