OHS Forestry Team Earns 3rd Place Recognition at Idaho State Forestry Contest
OROFINO - On May 9, 2024, eight students from Orofino High School’s Introduction to Fisheries, Wildlife, and Forestry (FWF) class participated in the 41st Idaho State Forestry Contest in Farragut State Park (Athol, ID). There were nearly 200 student participants from all over the state. The annual contest assesses students' forestry skills and resource management knowledge. Each student must complete nine assessments on the following topics: Map Reading, Tree Measurement, Noxious Weeds, Log Scaling, Native Tree/Shrub Identification, Tree Health, Soil and Water Quality, Compass and Pacing, and Silviculture.
