ADRIAN

Baseball double forfeits

After a collision during Game 2 of a baseball doubleheader between Adrian College and Hope resulted in the benches clearing, the MIAA decided to rule the game and the third game at Adrian Saturday as double forfeits.

The two teams were tied atop the MIAA standings along with Kalamazoo, but now will be two games behind Kalamazoo and a game behind Alma.

The Bulldogs won the first game of the doubleheader, 11-3, with Jakob Charles throwing a complete game, giving up three runs (two earned), on seven hits and no walks while striking out five.

AJ Miranda had four hits with a double with an RBI and three runs while Ryan Davis went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs and Rolando Jimenez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Charles and David Kedrow each had two hits with an RBI.

The Bulldogs also concluded a suspended game with Alma on Thursday, winning 16-13.

Luc St. Antoine got the win, tossing two shutout innings with two hits and three strikeouts before Onsted graduate Lincoln Lipinski got the save with a perfect inning, striking out one.

Joe Casale hit a home run, as did Jack Boike with five RBIs. Charles hit two doubles while Davis and Miranda added a double each.

The also beat Wittenberg in a non-league game on Sunday, 7-1.

Daniel Gutierrez struck out five and gave up one run, on three hits and a walk while striking out five in the start as he tossed three innings.

Nic Bruder was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs while Davis and Casale each hit doubles.

Golf season finale

The Adrian men's and women's golf teams won the MIAA Spring Finals.

Joe Renfer tied as the medalist with a score of 149 while Gabe Campbell was tied for fourth (153), Madison graduate Cam Bozyk was tied for sixth (154) and Henrik de Koning tied for 11th (157).

Sara Bevington tied for second at 158 while Lauren Reed was fifth (159), Ainslee Hewitt shot 170 and Olivia Ohmer shot 171.

Softball on a roll

The Bulldogs softball team picked up a pair of wins Monday against Heidelberg at home in non-league play, 7-2 and 10-2.

Hailey DeChalk had a monster day, going 6-for-8 with a home run, double, eight RBIs and four runs. Taylor Gerhardt went 5-for-8 with a double, three runs and an RBI.

Flesia Borck (Hudson) hit a triple in Game 2 while Maggie Leveille went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Meghan Lupu and Makenzi Johnson each had three hit games.

Macee Schang gave up two runs, on seven hits and four walks while striking out four in Game 1 before Abbi Patton gave up two runs, on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Schang gave up two unearned runs, on six hits and two walks in an 8-2 win against St. Mary's with seven strikeouts before Patton gave up two runs, on six hits and three walks while striking out five in an 8-2 win of her own.

Bagelmann added four more hits with a triple, five runs and two RBIs while Leveille added four hits, two runs and four RBIs to her week.

Lacrosse dishing it out

Michael Jonas had six assists while scoring three goals himself in Tuesday's men's lacrosse MIAA win at Alma, 23-2.

Derek Hassel had four assists to go with a goal while Austin Selvage had four goals, Riley Edwards had three and an assist, Brandon Hoerauf had two and an assist. Alec Winegar and Bradyn Parrot each had two goals while Jason Klein had a goal and an assist and Cameron Reed, Mark Picano, Michael Camacho, Tyler Ristau and Jake Coakley had a goal each and Trace Tidswell (Tecumseh) and Bowen Sparks had an assist each.

Sam Spangler made three saves.

Tennis finishes strong

The Adrian women's team beat Alma 8-1 on Monday to finish the season with a four-dual win streak, a 4-4 MIAA mark and a 13-9 record overall.

Hye Jin Elliot and Claire Earley won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles. Ellie Himebauch and Liv Depies won at No. 3 and No. 6 singles as well as No. 2 doubles and Hope Busscher won at No. 4 singles and joined Maddison Wagner to win at No. 3 doubles.

The Adrian men's tennis team finished the season strong with a 6-3 win against Alma.

Kasper Oloffson won at No. 1 singles and was joined by Sebastian Smith to win at No. 1 doubles as well while Smith also won at No. 3 singles. Sean Ruhf and Luca Coutinho won at No. 2 doubles while Jackson Wilcox and Luke Holowinski won at No. 3 doubles and Aiden Kuzma won at No. 6 singles.

Adrian finished 9-12 and 3-4 in the MIAA with a three-dual win streak.

Track & field: Legacy Meet

Adrian and Siena Heights took part in the Concordia Ann Arbor Legacy Meet on Saturday.

The Bulldogs swept the high jump with Ciara Heslet (5-feet-3-inches) and Weston Kvalevog (6-3.50) each taking first while Cameron Overmyer won the pole vault (14-11).

The Bulldogs won the 4x100 (42.05) with Jaymes Vines, Grent Clemens, Asher Cousino and Michael Wright. Emme Koutz won the 400 (59.87).

SIENA HEIGHTS

Track & field: Legacy Meet

Jonah Siekman was the top college javelin thrower (146-08) at the Legacy Meet. His throw was only topped by an unattached thrower (207-05). Jordan Harris won the shot put (50-7.25).

Madison graduate Nethanel Leupold won the steeplechase (10:37.87) while Isabelle Uganski won the women's steeplechase (12:17.31).

Women's golf: WHAC final

The Saints women's golf team took third at the WHAC championships with a three-round score of 1,000 while Northwestern Ohio won at 897 and Lawrence Tech shot 937.

Skylar Whitman took eighth with a 233 while Leah LaFleur shot 251, Megan Paczas shot 255 and Bethany Nowak (Tecumseh) shot 261.
