Revolutionary War barracks, chewed-on ammunition unearthed in Virginia
Archaeologists in Virginia uncovered what is believed to be the remains of a military barracks from the Revolutionary War, including chimney bricks and musket balls indented with soldiers' teeth. Hampton police seeking help in locating burglary suspects
HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY)– Hampton police are seeking the help of the public to identify two burglary suspects. Officers were dispatched Wednesday night just after 8 p.m. to the 5100 block of West Mercury Boulevard in reference to a burglary alarm. When officers arrived, they found a damaged and unsecured door at Outer Edge Gifts.
VDOT: Delays caused by crashes on I-64 and I-664
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two major crashes Friday morning on the I-64 and I-664 could cause delays for motorists, according to VDOT. On I-64 in Hampton, at Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel East, motorists could expect delays due to a vehicle crash. East lanes were closed but have reopened, but traffic backups are around 3 miles.
Vice Adm. Nathan Moore is new Coast Guard Atlantic commander
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The U.S. Coast Guard’s Atlantic sector has a new commander. Vice Adm. Nathan Moore officially took over for Vice Adm. Camden school board names Ratliff next schools superintendent
CAMDEN — An assistant superintendent for the Poquoson City Public Schools in Poquoson, Virginia, will be Camden County Schools’ next superintendent. The Camden Board of Education announced in a press release Thursday night it had hired Dr. Brandon Ratliff and that he will take over as the district’s superintendent on July 1. NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A senior at Woodside High School in Newport News has been named a 2024 Gates Scholar by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Aaron Lin, who’ll be attending Yale University in the fall, is the valedictorian at Woodside and is the student representative to the Newport News School Board. He’ll be the first in his family to go to college.
