Fox Cities drivers regain more access to I-41's Richmond Street exit
Northbound Interstate 41 drivers can now take the State 47/Richmond Street exit in Appleton/Grand Chute, but they won't be able to cross the overpass for a few more weeks. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Oct. 23 that the northbound on- and off-ramps were now open. The department opened the southbound on- and off-ramps on Oct. 17. The ramps have been closed since summer, and the bridge has been out since May 19 , as crews have transformed the interchange into a diverging diamond-style interchange. Once the overpass reopens, it will be transformed into a diverging diamond interchange. Richmond is the third of three Appleton-area exits to be transformed from a traditional interchange into a diverging diamond as part of this project, behind Ballard and Northland . Overall, it's the fourth such interchange in the region after State 441/U.S. 10 and South Oneida Street was remodeled into a diverging diamond in 2018 as part of a separate project. A diverging diamond interchange moves traffic to the opposite side of the road, eliminating the need for drivers to make left turns in front of oncoming traffic. This allows traffic looking to make a left turn onto an on-ramp to proceed directly

Press-Gazette seeks release of records, video in Josh Jacobs case
The Green Bay Press-Gazette on Oct. 23 filed motions in Brown County Circuit Court to obtain police records from the Josh Jacobs misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property case. Jacobs, a Green Bay Packers running back, and the unidentified victim each filed suit against the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department on Oct. 14 after the department determined that records could be released. Jacobs wants all records sealed. The victim specifically identified a security video taken in Jacobs' garage during the incident. The Press-Gazette court brief asked for the release of all police records not potentially restricted by state statute, which would be everything except the evidence gathered by search warrant and subpoena. In addition, the Press-Gazette petitioned for the release of a video (that redacts identity of the victim), which was the result of a search warrant and subpoena. Jacobs pleaded no contest Sept. 10 in Brown County court to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges stemming from a May 23 incident in Hobart with the ex-girlfriend. Brown County Judge Marc Hammer said Sept. 24 that Wisconsin open records law favors public access, but it would be up to the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department to apply a balancing test between
