EXTREME Tornado Watch: 14 Big Country counties issued storm warnings

Big Country, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center issued a Tornado Watch across most of the Big Country’s Counties through 9:00 p.m. Monday.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are predicted for Monday evening, according to the NWS. A few of theses storms may become severe between San Angelo and Brownwood.

The following 14 counties are under EXTREME Tornado Watch:

  • Callahn
  • Coke
  • Fisher
  • Haskell
  • Jones
  • Mitchell
  • Nolan
  • Runnels
  • Scurry
  • Shackelford
  • Stephens
  • Stonewall
  • Taylor
  • Throckmorton

We are expecting large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

The City of Abilene urges residents to sign up with the CodeRed emergency communication system to stay informed.
