Going for the Umrah Trip can be among the opportunities that come once in a lifetime. Muslims from all over the world perform Umrah with full spirituality and proper preparation. Performing Umrah is a great gift from Allah (SWT) to Muslims and clears past sins.

All of you may know the significance of Umrah, but if you do not organize it properly, it may make you uncomfortable. Organizing an Umrah trip can be a difficult or complex task, but it doesn’t look to be. Following the tips discussed in this article, you can organize your Umrah trip properly.

Decide your budget line for Umrah:

Once you have planned for Umrah, it’s time to decide your budget. Your budget includes all the expenses, from accommodation to booking the packages. It’s important to look at your personal preferences when setting a budget. Normally, a budget list includes the following factors:

  • Flights
  • Accommodation
  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Visa
  • Other expenses

Arrange your flights in advance:

Flight is the main factor that plays a role in your travelling. So, start arranging your flights early, as late booking can lead to more expenses. Airlines often offer discounts/promotions on early bookings. Talk to your Travel Agent dealing with you for the best flight options. Keep in mind the following points when arranging a flight:

  1. Flexibility of your travel dates
  2. Choose the airline
  3. Compare prices of airlines
  4. Book flight included in the package

Pack your bags for Umrah:

Travelling is incomplete without bag packing. Every person packs luggage according to their own. When you go to Umrah, bag packing differs slightly from other trips. Here, you must care about what you can carry and wear in Saudi Arabia. Below is the checklist that you should pack:

  • Ihram garments
  • Comfortable clothing according to the weather in Saudi Arabia
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, soaps, shampoos, etc.)
  • Medication
  • First-aid kit
  • Some cash and money belt
  • Electronic devices (type G adapter, mobile phone)
  • Undergarments

Remember, pack your bag lightly because it may be difficult to carry. Depending on your days of stay, pack according to. Don’t pack unnecessary items like heavy jewelry, bulky souvenirs, clothes, etc. These things can increase your luggage weight. Remember the luggage weight allowance policy issued by your flight’s airline. Most airlines offer 25 to 30 kg of luggage weight.

Accommodation and Transportation:

Your accommodation and transportation must be issued and reserved before embarking on the Umrah trip. Many Muslims prefer travel agencies to book accommodation and transportation. They leave this process to the concerned travel agent/operator.

Your accommodation includes the hotels in Mecca and Medina where you stay. Transportation may be included in your Umrah package. But it may be something other than that, so you must also arrange yourself. For this, you must know how to get to a hotel from the airport and how to travel from Mecca to Medina.

Duration of your stay:

Your duration of stay decides how much time you will be going to spend in Saudi Arabia. However, if you are physically fit, Umrah can be performed in 6 to 8 hours. But remember, travelling from Jeddah airport to Mecca can take up to 2 hours and some time to reach the hotel.

You can stay for Umrah for:

  • Seven days
  • Ten days
  • 14 days
  • Sometimes 30 days (optional)

In the remaining days, you can perform multiple Umrah or on behalf of others and do some Ziyarats in holy sites. Most people visit many holy sites in Medina City. So, think early about how many days you want to stay according to your budget.

Final Words

Organizing your Umrah trip can be challenging, especially if you are a first-timer. But things can become easy if you make arrangements early and make a checklist. I hope this article helps you to organize the Umrah trip properly. May Allah (SWT) accept your Umrah and grant you a blessed journey.
