Michigan woman critically injured in 1,000-foot fall at Denali peak in Alaska
DENALI PARK, AK. -- A Grandville, Mich., native was critically injured after falling approximately 1,000 feet while climbing a mountain at Denali National Park in Alaska. Melissa Orzechowski, 30, a graduate of Grandville High School and Northern Michigan University, was climbing with a partner, Robbi Mecus, on Mt. Johnson on the night of Thursday, April 25. The mountain is an 8,400-foot peak in Denali National Park and Preserve’s Ruth Gorge.
