Softball squad drops pair of conference games
SPRING VALLEY, WI – The spring season has hit full swing, which means two, three and sometimes four games in one week for many sports, but especially softball and baseball. The Spring Valley softball team had some tough competition here last week with teams from the top half of the conference coming for a visit to Valley. Elk Mound (3-2 in D-SC) and Durand (2-3) both came into their respective games with the Cardinals looking to improve their standing (3rd and 5th in the conference respectively). The Cardinals dropped to 1-5 in conference play, 3-6 overall with the pair of losses, leaving them in seventh place in the conference.
Waseca track and field does battle in PEM Winged Foot Invite
Thursday evening, the Waseca track and field team traveled to Plainview-Elgin-Millville H.S. to compete in the PEM Winged Foot Invitational featuring six schools. The Bluejays boys team earned a second place finish in the meet with 147.5 points while the girls finished fourth with 93. The meet also featured the return to competition for Kaeden Johnson, a key member of the 2023 MSHSL State Championship track and field team, who had suffered a serious knee injury midway through the football season this year. Thursday’s World of Outlaws’ Dairyland Showdown Canceled
FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. — With weather models showing heavy rain Wednesday night in Fountain City and more expected throughout the day on Thursday, World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model and Mississippi Thunder Speedway officials agreed to cancel Thursday’s portion of the Dairyland Showdown to preserve the facility for racing on Friday and Saturday.
