Storm Tracker Forecast: Bright & breezy Thursday
It's a good idea to throw on a light extra layer and to grab your sunglasses before you head out the door Thursday. High pressure off the coast in the Pacific will continue to drive mostly dry, bright and mild temperatures across northern California Thursday, but a cool and wet system to our north will bring limited shower chances, breezy to gusty northwest winds and will keep our high temperatures in check today. Cloudy skies and light to moderate scattered showers have sagged just south of the Oregon border overnight, and there is thin cloud cover that has tracked across parts of the valley early today. Light scattered showers will be possible in the Northern Mountains through mid-day, but the rest of our region will remain dry under clearing skies. Temperatures are starting out in the 50's in the valley, 40's to 50's in the foothills, and 30's to 40's in most of our mountain zones Thursday morning. Sustained northwest winds in the 10mph to 20mph range are expected, and gusts up into the 30mph to 35mph range will be possible today. High temperatures are projected to climb into the mid 70's to low 80's in the valley, 60's to mid 70's in the foothills, and upper 50's to upper 60's in our mountain zones Thursday afternoon. We'll have dry weather, breezy north winds, and clearing skies from late today into tonight. Looks like a nice, but breezy evening for anyone heading out to the Thursday Night Market in Chico.
