Escondido Police Conducting DUI Patrols
The Escondido Police Department will be out Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence. “Impaired driving is preventable,” Chief of Police Ed Varso said. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”
Fire marshal Davidson to retire
Division Chief Jim Davidson, who has been Valley Center’s fire marshal since 2019, will be retiring from the Valley Center Fire Protection District as of July 1. Davidson has been with VCFPD since 2011 (part time) and 2017 full time. He was promoted to Division Chief on June 29, 2023. He was promoted to Fire Captain in 2017.

Woman Sentenced to 12 Years After Selling Fentanyl to Ramona Man Who Overdosed
A San Diego woman who sold fentanyl to a Ramona man, leading to his death, was sentenced Friday to nearly a dozen years in federal prison. Megan Rae Bowman, 25, pleaded guilty to selling Michael Raymond Kuch one gram of fentanyl at a motel in Old Town in late 2022.
