Stowe Township store shut down due to lack of permit, hot water, and other health risks
STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - An establishment in Stowe Township is being forced to close by the Allegheny County Health Department for a myriad of reasons. "Cravingz" on Broadway Avenue was operating without a permit when inspectors arrived to check the building. Once inside, they found several violations including those preparing food had been smoking, a lot of the food preparation and cooking equipment was heavily soiled, cigarette butts were found inside the handwashing station in the kitchen, and the dumpster was "overflowing" with garbage according to the report. They also found that there was no hot water in the building and a total of one restroom for both staff and customers. You can view the Allegheny County Health Department's inspection report at this link. Cravingz is now closed until further notice and will not be allowed to reopen until they obtain a permit, correct several things along with what was listed above, and submit plans for health and safety.

Vermont’s Island Line Trail | The Bike Ride That Has It All
The magic of exploring a place on two wheels instead of four comes into full focus on Vermont’s Island Line Trail, a bike ride that’s a lesson in the art of going slow. Sure, you could cover this relatively flat, relatively easy distance in a couple of hours, but why? This is a journey made for meandering and stopping. And then stopping again. The views, after all, include both Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains, not to mention sailboats, lighthouses, and killer sunsets. And the sights are as varied as the terrain. You’re in a city. You’re on a paved path. You’re on an island. You’re on…the water? In a sense, yes.

'We're Leaving': Winooski's Bargain Real Estate Attracted a Diverse Group of Residents for Years. Now They're Being Squeezed Out.
Help us pay for in-depth stories like this one by becoming a Seven Days Super Reader. Cailyne Crowder called Winooski home. She had moved to the upper half of an old duplex on Lafountain Street in 2015 because the $1,150 rent, cheaper than what she'd pay in Burlington, suited her budget as a single mom. The lower cost of living enabled her to open Atlas Hair Studio, a downtown salon where she built a loyal clientele.
Dreary, yet drier today before more showers Thursday
Happy Wednesday! Temperatures are in the 40s this morning alongside mostly cloudy skies, very dense fog, and light and variable winds. Make sure you’re traveling with extra caution this morning especially if you’ll be moving through the mountain passes or higher elevations. That’s where some of the thickest of fog is hiding out.
