Rockland man grieves, Two Bridges, state review his brother’s death in Wiscasset jail
A man being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail has hung himself, in the third suicide since Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties opened the facility on Wiscasset’s Route One in 2006, authorities told Wiscasset Newspaper. TBRJ is doing an internal investigation “as (is) normal procedure for any critical incident we have in the jail,” Col. James Bailey, TBRJ’s correctional administrator, said via email April 25.

Hope and Warren garages two of 10 Maine businesses receiving federal solar grants
HOPE — Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree said April 23 that 10 Maine businesses in electoral District 1 are receiving $657,000 in renewable energy grants, courtesy of the federal Inflation Reduction Act. Among them, Hatchet Mountain Garage in Hope will receive $21,080 to install solar panels, and Copeland’s Garage, Inc., in Warren, will receive $70,000 for a similar project.

Camden Rotary Club Awards $30,000 in Grants
The Camden Rotary Club has awarded grant awards totaling nearly $30,000 to nine local nonprofit organizations. The Penobscot Bay YMCA received $5,000 to help support the continued operations of childcare centers, including its new infant center, and fund a second year of the YMCA’s financial assistance program for childcare families who do not qualify for state subsidies.
Midcoast museum hosts private STEM field trip
OWLS HEAD, Maine — The Owls Head Transportation Museum closed to the public Friday to host a special field trip for area kids. Universities and companies joined the museum in welcoming more than 300 middle schoolers from the midcoast for a day of science, technology, engineering, and math. They controlled robots, raced cars, and learned lessons in ways they just can’t in a classroom.
