Utica man arrested after incident at Oneida Co. Office Building
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man is in custody after an incident at the Oneida County Office Building in which he pulled a knife on a construction worker. Oneida County Sheriffs were called to the office building’s parking lot on Park Avenue at approximately 9:30 am on Wednesday, May 1. According to police, a construction worker observed a male — later identified as 37-year-old Dominic Launux of Utica — and a female having an argument.

Four dogs recovering; owner charged in Deansboro
DEANSBORO — A 51-year-old man is facing multiple counts of animal cruelty after four emaciated dogs were seized from his Deansboro home in late March. Authorities said the four severely emaciated dogs were taken in by the Central New York SPCA after they were rescued from the home of 51-year-old Brian Bridge on March 18.
Utica man sentenced on federal fentanyl charges
SYRACUSE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man learned his fate in federal court on Wednesday, May 1 after pleading guilty to fentanyl possession charges. 38-year-old Eric Ares of Utica was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for consipiring to possess and distribute fentanyl on Wednesday, according to United States Attorney Carla Freedman. Ares pled guilty in an earlier appearance in the Syracuse Federal Court.

VERONA — A previously scheduled controlled burn planned for a Germany Road site next week has been postponed, according to the AFRL. “The Air Force Research Laboratory prescribed burn scheduled for the week of May 5, at the Verona Test Annex, has been postponed to a later date due to conditions outside of prescription (i.e. conditions on the ground, forecasted weather and crew availability during regulatory window),” a Wednesday notice read.
