Charleston police investigate deadly two-vehicle crash
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Police are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening in Kanawha County. Stanley Aaron Burkes, of Charleston, was killed in the wreck that occurred at the intersection of Kanawha Boulevard East and East Point Drive, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.

NWS: Kanawha County now most ‘tornado prone’ in region, West Virginia
CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Kanawha County has been the county most prone to tornadoes in the region, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston. The declaration comes after the NWS in Charleston updated their Natural Hazard Risk Assessment to include the severe storms and tornadoes that tore through the Tri-State on April 2. Kanawha County now has the most tornadoes on record with 16 tornadoes that have occurred between 1875 and April 2024, according to the NWS.

OVERVIEW: Frost is expected in the deep valleys such as the New River Gorge National Park between 4-8 a.m. Thursday. Then, temperatures will swing to the opposite end of the pendulum by Monday and reach within 5 degrees of record highs. The only risk for rain is with a warm frontal passage between 3-9 a.m. Saturday and a late day storm Tuesday ahead of a front that promises to shave only a few degrees off temperatures by Wednesday.
