The Peoria County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed early Saturday morning in a shooting just north of Interstate 74 in Peoria. Thomas Antoine, 30, of Peoria, was pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m. in the trauma room at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center after he was shot over an hour earlier in the 2100 block of North Gale Avenue. Dunlap High School senior killed in head-on crash in Peoria
A Dunlap High School senior was killed late Saturday night when her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision near the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in northwest Peoria. Nevaeh Mitchell, 18, of Princeville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 8400 block of North Orange Prairie Road at 12:27 a.m. Sunday. According to the Peoria County Coroner's Office, Mitchell had been driving north along Orange Prairie Road when her vehicle collided with one traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.

Man dies after being found inside vehicle with gunshot wounds in Peoria, police say
Officers were called to the scene at about 1:25 a.m. on a report of a person shot, the Peoria Police Department said in a news release. They found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle that was struck by gunfire. Lifesaving measures were performed on the victim until he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release said.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Hundreds of people came to downtown Peoria this morning for the 3rd annual OSF Healthcare Cancer Institute Nun Run. Water Street was closed from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Peoria’s downtown. Nuns and locals took off from the starting line at 8 a.m. for the 5k run or 1-mile walk.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office believes that several Peoria gangs may have been involved in a shooting early Sunday morning in Chillicothe that injured a 18-year-old man. Sheriff Chris Watkins said Tuesday that early indications are that two or three gangs from Peoria may have been present Sunday morning at the Valley Lakes Center when an 18-year-old was shot in the head and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The facility had been hosting an after-prom party put on by students from several local schools with events the night before.
