Fry Street Fair returns to Denton after 17 years
The Fry Street Fair returned to Denton after a 17-year hiatus last weekend, taking place over the course of two days and occupying over four city blocks. After a rocky start with the original organizers of the fair, the new organizer and owner of the Dirty Dicks bar on Avenue A, Andy Saunders, continued the tradition of the Fry Street Fair. According to Saunders, the event featured music from over 60 bands and many of the proceeds were donated to various charities and nonprofit organizations.
What to know: Denton starts inspecting 14,000 water lines for lead, copper contamination
Starting Monday, Denton water utilities field crews will be scouring the city to inspect water lines to figure out how many may be affected by copper or lead contamination. The city is inspecting about 14,000 residential and commercial water lines currently categorized as “unknowns” because officials don’t know what type of material was used for the pipe, said Stephen Gay, Denton’s water utilities director.

Denton police arrested a 28-year-old woman after she allegedly flooded a hotel room and walked naked along the Interstate 35 service road, according to a police report. At about 10:37 a.m. Monday, Denton officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 4400 block of Interstate 35. The caller, a hotel employee, said a woman broke into a hotel room and flooded it.

The average high temperature was 75.6, one degree above the climatological norm. The average low was 55.3, which was 4 degrees above the normal average low of 51. Azle food truck park overcomes first month, farmers market debut date confirmed
AZLE — There’s a lot going on the lot at 225 Church St. Every Friday and Saturday since March 29, the space has been home to The FeedLot, Azle’s very own food truck park. While largely successful, the food truck venue has faced its share of hurdles in its debut month. For example, the city has received noise complaints from at least four homes on nearby Locust Street. However, closing by 9 p.m., the food truck park adheres to all city noise ordinances, Director of Planning and Development Hawkins said at a recent Azle City Council meeting.
