Wydaho Film Festival coming to Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY -- A new kind of film festival is debuting at the end of May in Traverse City: it’s the Wydaho Adventure Film Festival at the City Opera House and all proceeds go to benefit the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center and TART Trails. It’ll showcase two adventure films made in the Western Teton region of Idaho that are meant to inspire and educate. There will also be information tables set up at the event so that you can learn more about the organization’s you’re supporting. “If you are looking for a really cool, unique way to spend your Thursday and your Friday evening in Traverse City, definitely check out the adventure film festival, the unique set of films meant to inspire others” Says Madeline Saucedo with the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center. “Plus, you’ll be supporting two nonprofits that make your community a better place to live, work and play.” The film festival is taking place on the evenings of May 30 and 31. (CBS DETROIT) — A bear was caught on camera breaking into a northern Michigan chocolate shop and stealing a bag of sugar. The incident happened at Grocer's Daughter Chocolate shop at 11590 S. Lacore St. in Empire. While the shop was filled with chocolate, different sweet ingredients and even a five-gallon bucket of honey, the bear only took one item, a 50-pound bag of sugar. Project Feed the Kids receives major donation from Subaru Share the Love Event
TRAVERSE CITY — Subaru’s Share the Love Event just gifted Project Feed the Kids $50,000 – the largest donation in the nonprofit’s history. Related: Project Feed the Kids seeks donations to install cameras at meal coolers Project Feed the Kids started four years ago as a way to help provide free meals to any children struggling with food insecurity and has provided about 380,000 meals. They now have five different cooler locations. Co-founder Tiffany McQueer said this check will help them feed 25,000 children.
