PHILADELPHIA - The month of May started with a rumble for people in parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania after a minor 2.6 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning. The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake happened around 7 a.m. in Gladstone, New Jersey – the same town that experienced an aftershock following a 4.8 magnitude earthquake last month.

Gang violence leads to increased security in Scranton schools
In the wake of increasing gang violence, the Scranton School District will be increasing security on school properties. The district made that announcement on Monday, following an uptick in fighting and threats of violence between students at West Scranton schools and at Memorial Stadium. The district says it's now adding security to West Scranton High and West Scranton Intermediate as well as at Memorial Stadium.
Free smoke alarms in Lackawanna County
