AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A grand jury indictment accuses a former Augusta University Dental College of Georgia coordinator of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars. We combed through pages of payments in the indictment against Dawn Nichole Gantt, which show payments to Airbnb, Carpet Warehouse, Verizon, the Optavia weight-loss system, Nordictrack.com, Hidden Creek HOA, VRBO, Dooney and Burke and multiple payments to Louis Vuitton, totaling close to $10,000, and multiple payments to Delta Air Lines.
Latest Augusta shooting leaves 1 person hospitalized
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person has been taken to the hospital on Friday night after a shooting at Fox Trace in Augusta, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirms. The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to Fox Trace in reference to shots fired with one person down at 9:43 p.m.
Police find missing 16-year-old in Grovetown
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Grovetown Police Department has found a missing 16-year-old. Emmanuel Bowen, of Sierra Lane, was last seen at 7:10 a.m. on Friday. Around 9:30 p.m., officials say Bowen returned home and is safe.
Gun found at Hephzibah High School; school official's story does not match arrest warrant
Hephzibah High School parents have been made aware a gun was found on the campus, but the circumstances of the situation remain unclear. According to a statement released by the school, students were taking Georgia Milestone tests on Wednesday when a cell phone began ringing from the backpacks, which were together in one area of the classroom away from student access during testing. While an administrator searched the bags to locate the phone, a gun was found in a bookbag. That bookbag was searched and its owner was identified. The school says the Richmond County School System Police began an investigation and the incident was addressed in accordance with the student code of conduct.
Report sheds light on Richmond County deputy’s arrest in Harlem
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We are learning new details on why a Richmond County deputy was arrested in a Harlem domestic-related incident. An incident report from the Harlem Police Department states that on April 15 around 5:30 p.m., officers made contact with the mother of Deputy Terence Driggers’ son.
