Buchanan County Sheriff investigating after man injured in shooting
BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office is working with Iowa DCI to investigate after a man was injured in a shooting this morning. Buchanan County Health Center Emergency Room staff reported they had an adult male in their ER with a gunshot wound to the abdomen around 9am, and contacted officials. Buchanan County Health Center went into a precautionary lockdown because not all parties involved were accounted for at the time. The victim was later taken to UIHC, and his exact condition is unknown.
Western family farm carries on a ‘relay race’
When Todd Western III talks about his family history, he said he has to break it down into chapters. The Westerns have a long history in Iowa, having one of the oldest Heritage Farms in Iowa and the oldest owned by a Black family in the state. The farm’s first chapter starts with Thomas Western, who was born into slavery to a colonel in Virginia in the late 1700s and worked to buy his way out.
Proud Image Chorus to host guest night
EVANSDALE – Men who enjoy singing and would like to find out more about the Proud Image Chorus, are invited to a special rehearsal on Tuesday, April 23, beginning at 7 p.m. Under the direction of David Boyd, the Proud Image is an all-male, a cappella chorus established more than 40 years ago with members from all walks of life.
