2 men get federal prison time for trafficking meth across East Texas
SHELBY COUNTY, Texas — Two East Texas men have been sentenced to federal prison for trafficking meth in parts of East Texas. Christopher Shane Osborn, 46, of Lufkin and Terrence D. Williams, 33, of Center both pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute meth in separate cases.

Gilmer softball sweeps Rusk to move into the 4A Region 3 Area Round
TYLER, Texas (KETK) — The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes softball team beat Rusk in the first two games of their 4A Region 3 Bi-District playoffs series to advance to the area round. Gilmer beat Rusk 7-4 in game one and 9-5 in game two to move on to the area round where they’ll face Little Cypress-Mauriceville.
No injuries reported as game wardens respond to stranded boat in Cherokee County
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — Game wardens are responding to a boating accident in Cherokee County Friday afternoon. Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson said there are currently no reports of injuries and game wardens are trying to reach the boat. The accident happened near County Road 2120 in the Maydelle area.

East Texas man flown to hospital after being robbed, shot in head
LUFKIN, Texas — The Lufkin Police Department is investigating after a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. According to the LPD, the shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m., in the 100 block of W. Laurel Ave. Police say a man was shot and seeking help from a neighbor.
Dr. Hayes opens next chapter in teaching career
Dr. Cassandra Hayes, assistant of professor of broadcast journalism has been teaching at SFA for two years. Dr. Hayes, didn’t always have college on her radar. “I was working at Taco Casa, making money, paying the little bills I did have.
