Princeton Native to Retire from MSHP After 28 Years of Service
ST. JOSEPH, MO – Lieutenant W. Shane Sims with Troop H of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Joseph will retire on June 1st after serving more than 28 years. Sims was appointed to the Patrol on January 1st, 1996, as a member of the 71st Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop H, Zone 2, covering Nodaway and Worth counties. In 2001, Sims was promoted to corporal and served as the assistant zone supervisor in Zone 9 in Livingston County. In 2004, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Zone 2, Nodaway and Worth counties. In 2012, Sims became a commercial vehicle enforcement trooper and was named supervisor of the Troop H Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2014 and remained assigned to Troop H.

Mercer County to mark 73rd National Day of Prayer in May
The Mercer County Ministerial Alliance will observe the 73rd Annual National Day of Prayer. The event will take place around the flagpole on the front lawn of the Mercer County Courthouse in Princeton on May 2 at 12:15 p.m. Should inclement weather occur, the event will be moved to the main floor of the courthouse.
Trenton, Princeton residents arrested by local authorities
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two local and area residents on April 22. The Trenton Police Department apprehended Taylor Scott Groves, a 21-year-old from Trenton, for felony resisting arrest. This charge stemmed from an incident where Groves allegedly fled from police, significantly risking serious injury or death to others. Additionally, he faces misdemeanors for driving while his license was revoked or suspended—his second or third such offense—and for operating a motor vehicle recklessly. The charges also include operating a motorcycle without a valid license, failing to register a motor vehicle, and driving without maintaining the required financial responsibility for a second or subsequent time. Groves’ bond is set at $25,000, payable in cash only. His court appearance is scheduled for May 14 in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court.
Decatur County suspect nabbed in Montgomery County
(Red Oak) -- A Decatur City man is in custody in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says 48-year-old Timothy Lee Hutchison was arrested early Tuesday evening on an active Decatur County warrant for for probation violation. The arrest took place in the 1700 block of Highway 34 shortly before 7:30 p.m.
