Earthquake in New Jersey likely not felt by many, USGS says
GLADSTONE, N.J. -- A small earthquake was recorded in New Jersey on Saturday, but it likely was not felt by many, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The magnitude 2.9 earthquake was recorded at 9:49 a.m. near Gladstone, Somerset County, which is about 40 miles west of New York City. Based on early data on the USGS's website, the earthquake caused light shaking, but was not strong enough to cause any damage. Two indicted on charges of killing Somerset County man, taking body to Brooklyn
Two men were indicted Thursday by a Somerset County grand jury on charges of murdering a Franklin Township man and then taking the body to Brooklyn. Daniel Matthews, 44, of Brooklyn, and Andrew Mumby, 47, of New Brunswick, are both facing multiple charges in the killing of Artis Young, 46, in the township on Dec. 29.

The retailer, which is headquartered in Oklahoma, is set to open a location in Morris County at 180 NJ-10 in East Hanover, the site of a since shuttered Bed Bath & Beyond. Hillsborough fire calls
On April 26 at approximately 12:16 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to 555 Hillsborough Road for a report of a structure fire. Arriving units discovered the front of the home was fully engulfed in flames and heavy dark smoke. The fire quickly spread to the main area of the home prior to the Hillsborough Township Fire Department being able to extinguish the fire. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation by Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) EMS (emergency medical services). The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by detectives from the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.
VA is Bringing Vet Center to Warren County and Northwestern New Jersey
Warren County, NJ – The federal Veterans Administration (VA) has announced they are establishing a Vet Center Outstation in Hackettstown and a Vet Center Community Access Point in Morristown. These developments come after a significant effort from local leaders. Assemblywoman Fantasia, formerly a Sussex County Board of Commissioners member, supported a resolution in 2021 urging the creation of a Vet Center in Northwestern New Jersey.
