SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Green River Wolves are poised for a shot at the state title following a series of intense matchups in the 3A State Tournament. The Green River teams launched into state competition on Thursday with mixed results. The Lady Wolves faced a tough defeat, falling 0-6 against Douglas. However, the Wolves clinched a thrilling victory, triumphing over Buffalo in overtime with a final score of 2-1. Jaxon Morris emerged as the hero, sealing the win with a remarkable shot spanning half the length of the field.
Wolves Place Second in State After Thrilling Battle
GREEN RIVER – The Green River Wolves finish the season strong in what was a hard-fought battle on their home turf for the Championship game against Cody. The Wolves left it all out on the field in a 3-0 game that was gritty and intense for the full eighty minutes but ultimately was won by Cody. Carter Gail scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute to give Cody the 1-0 lead.

GILLETTE — Cheyenne East senior Lillian Vallejo admittedly felt some nerves going into this weekend’s state softball tournament in Gillette. Vallejo spanned 4⅔ innings in the pitcher’s circle in the Thunderbirds’ opening round matchup with Rock Springs, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out 10.

CHEYENNE — With just 12 yards separating shooter and goalkeeper, shootouts in soccer are squarely to the advantage of the shooters. So facing a 2-2 tie heading into the top of the fourth in the shootout with Rock Springs, Cheyenne East senior keeper Jaxon Miller knew he needed to come up with at least one save to give his team a chance to win the match.
