May is bicycle safety month; bike clubs weigh in on how to stay safe on the road
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - May is bicycle safety month, and as the weather warms up, it’s important for both cyclists and drivers to be aware when they head out on the road. “Wear colorful clothing, and also you need to wear eye protection and wear a helmet just to be just that you’re safe,” said John White with Springbike Bike Club here in Springfield. “If you want a jersey or even a bright colored t-shirt, there’s a safety orange and then the bright fluorescent green like to see some of the MoDot workers wear that makes you visible to people. A helmet. I prefer the white or the bright yellow helmets, because you can see them, they’re easier to see because that’s high up on your head. It’s eye-level for most motorists when you’re wearing that.”

One in cuffs, one at hospital after stabbing near Springfield park
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - One person was sent to the hospital after being stabbed near a Springfield park Wednesday night. Officials tell KY3 that it started near Division and Broadway a little after 9:00 P.M. as a verbal argument between two people over property. It escalated when a third person stepped in and wound up stabbed in the arm. The victim walked to nearby Grant Beach Park and was taken to the hospital a short time later. An officer says the suspect was arrested near Division and Broadway.
