The Auburn area is full of great athletes and while there can be only one athlete of the year, there are several players that deserve recognition for their achievements. Caden Pinnick, Del Oro (Football, Basketball, Baseball): There weren’t many athletes that put together a better body of work than Pinnick in his senior year at Del Oro. Pinnick was named the offensive player of the year in the Sierra Foothill League in football and the co-MVP in basketball. He helped lead the Golden Eagles to the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals in football, and a section championship game and the NorCal Regional semifinals in basketball. Pinnick had 3,435 all-purpose yards, passed for 30 touchdowns and ran for nine. He averaged 21.4 points per game in basketball. Pinnick will play football and baseball at UC Davis next school year.

Oakmont wins again, reaches Nor-Cal title game on Saturday
The Oakmont coaching staff might not like the fact that the team seems to fall behind in many of their games, but at least the comeback is always there. Oakmont fell behind Christopher, 3-0, in the third inning on Thursday in the Nor-Cal Regional semifinal, just like they fell behind 4-0 to Gridley on Tuesday and to Lincoln, 3-1, on May 16. The Vikings have fallen behind in three of their last four games, but have come back to win all three games.
