Mansfield mayor arrested for driving while intoxicated
MANSFIELD, La. (KSLA) - The mayor of Mansfield was arrested Saturday morning. Thomas Jones, 62, was arrested by state police, officials say. He was driving while under the influence. Police took him into the custody, and he was booked into DeSoto Detention Center. Reports say he was arrested sometime after 2 a.m.
First responders work two-vehicle crash near Lena

SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas (News release) - Due to a break in a line, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required San Augustine Rural Public Water System PWS #2030007 to notify ALL customers who were formerly Bland Lake customers on CR 114, FM 1279, FM 3230, Hwy 96 N, FM 711 and Hwy 147 N to boil their water prior to consumption (eg., washing hands / face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, Seniors and Persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.

Natchitoches Parish teens set to compete at Texas State Rodeo Finals this summer
These Natchitoches Parish teens are members of the Texas High School Rodeo Association (THSRA) in Region V. Since August they have competed in monthly rodeos to earn points towards a year-end ranking. The year-end Region Finals Rodeo was held in April during which they each won in their respective events and qualified for the state finals.
NSU hosts summer STEAM camp for Sabine students
Northwestern State University hosted junior high and high schoolers from Sabine Parish for a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) day camp May 22-25. “This year, our junior high school campers were immersed in STEAM education and career exploration,” said Steve Gruesbeck, NSU’s director of service-learning and La GEAR UP. “Each morning they studied one ACT subject area with School of Education faculty. After a networking lunch with college faculty, they explored academic disciplines and careers in journalism, art, computer information systems and nursing and allied health.”
