Long-awaited “diet road” work underway in Seneca
The long-awaited state DOT approved project to improve a Seneca thoroughfare has begun – with early work noticeable over the weekend on EN 1st Street in the direction of downtown. In all, the resurfacing will take in all of North First Street – both east and west. Called a “Road Diet”, this will include changing parts of the existing 4-lane road to three lanes. And, for the stretch through the downtown, three lanes are envisioned to be safer for motorists and pedestrians. Zack Sizemore, project manager for contractor King Asphalt, requests that during the work all drivers slow down, stay off cell phones, and follow warning signs to help ensure the work progresses without danger to drivers, crews, and pedestrians.
