YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — What was originally reported to police as a possible burglary in progress turned out to be the result of a car crashing into a home.

Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, Youngstown police responded to a house in the 400 block of Williamson Ave., but when they arrived on scene, they discovered it was not a burglary but rather a crash.

Police observed a tan car crashed into the side of the home with multiple people standing outside the vehicle. While reports state everyone had exited the car by the time authorities arrived, Jatosha Simmons told police he was the driver.

Simmons is facing charges of failure to control, OVI/BAC and driving without a valid license. He appeared in court Monday and entered a plea of not guilty. He is set to return to court June 10 for pretrial.

One of the passengers of the vehicle was identified as Shavon Hasley, who was wanted on a warrant out of Austintown for the charge of child endangerment after police say she left her child in a car alone while she was at a bar.

Jacob Brooks contributed to this report.
