Youngstown boxer to fight for a title this weekend

GIRARD , Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown boxer Danny Rosenberger will highlight a card of 16 fights at the Girard Metroplex Expo Center Saturday.

The event is called Youngstown Vs: A New Era of Boxing .

The bouts start at 5 p.m. with 10 amateur fights. After, there will be six professional fights starting at 7 p.m.

The event will have six amateurs and four professionals from Rosenberger’s gym, Golden String Boxing Gym in Youngstown. Two of Rosenberger’s boxers will be making their debuts at the event.

Danny “Feel Good Hollywood’ Rosenberger fights #1 ranked Honduran Super Welterweight Jorge Luis Munguia.

The two square off for the UBA international and WBL World Super Welterweight Title. The fight will be 10 rounds at 154 lbs. Super Welterweight.

Rosenberger weighed in at 153 lbs. and Munguia at 155 lbs., Friday at the Candywood Wine Cellar in Vienna.

Rosenberger comes in at 12 fight win-streak and expects to go the distance Saturday.

“Very tough opponent, he’s fought a lot of credible guys,” said Rosenberger. “He comes straight forward, strong. So I know he’ll come at me nonstop for ten rounds and expect to go for 10 rounds.

The Youngstown boxer has been on the national stage fighting Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of Muhammad Ali. Rosenberger fought to a draw against Walsh in the Top Rank Boxing bout in May 2023.

Rosenberger said he has fought in Las Vegas, Florida, and Colombia, but is excited to be back home in Youngstown.

“Not a lot of people get to see me fight in person, so it’s exciting,” said Rosenberger. “I want to show off how my abilities are. I want them to see actually how much work I put in, my dedication, and put on a show for everybody.”

Another headliner is the return of Darnell “Deezol” Boone vs. Joe Jones. There will also be bouts featuring undefeated boxers, Cyrano Clay and Brandon Vega.

Promoters expect more than 1,000 people to show up to the event.

General admission tickets are $55 and are still available online.

Amateur fights start at 5 p.m. followed by professional fights at 7 p.m., Saturday Apr. 27th
