Motorcycle operator, passenger injured in Cherry Valley crash
A motorcycle operator and their passenger were both thrown from the bike, following an accident involving a pick-up truck, in Cherry Valley, Tuesday. It happened around 11:20 am. State Police say the pick-up truck driver was at the stop sign on Skopeletti Road and attempted to make a left turn, pulling into the direct path of a motorcycle traveling on Rt. 20. The motorcycle operator, 61-year-old Ralph E. Denofio, of Pattersonville, went by ambulance to Basset Hospital. His passenger, 60-year-old Jerilyn Denofio, also of Pattersonville, went by helicopter to Albany Medical Center.

Fire destroys Danube home
No one was hurt, but a mobile home was destroyed in a fire on Fords Bush Road, in the Herkimer County town of Danube, Wednesday night. Crews from three fire departments were called in to put out the fire. The St. Johnsville fire chief says a family member of the owner of the home was burning vegetation nearby, and that the fire reached the vacant mobile home. The chief says the fire was accidental.

Settlement details released in use-of-force lawsuit against the city of Burlington
A settlement has been reached between the city of Burlington and three brothers who sued, claiming excessive use-of-force by Burlington police officers. In September 2018, three brothers were at a downtown Burlington bar when a fight broke out. According to court documents, Jeremie Meli hit his head and lost consciousness after then-Burlington Police Sargent Jason Bellavance pushed him without warning. Meli, who is Black, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. All charges were eventually dropped against him and his two brothers. A lawsuit was filed in federal court in May 2019.
