(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Woodstock City Council is set to vote on a residential development plan next week that could bring more than 300 new homes to Woodstock, and some neighbors say they aren't happy about it.

Residential developer Lennar is looking to build a high-density residential development off Doty and Lucas Roads.

Catherine Bullen lives about 15 minutes from where the proposed Riverwoods development would be. She says she and other residents have several environmental concerns, including the development's impact on the Kishwaukee River.

"There's endangered species that live in the water in the watershed. Because it's just so close in proximity to the river, there's just great concern that this will affect the health of this pristine river,” she said.

She said the plan is also a risk to many 200-year-old oak trees and the groundwater in McHenry  county, which has no hookups to Lake Michigan.
