Happy Tuesday and welcome to the Streetwise newsletter!

I recently connected with a representative from Valvoline Instant Oil Change , who shared the company's initial plans for its new Wisconsin Rapids location. Valvoline intends to break ground on the new building early this summer and open by the end of the year on the corner of 12th Street South and East Riverview Expressway.

I also sat down with the new owner of Hotel Mead . I talked with Sean Patel and his staff about their plans and vision for the 73-year-old Wisconsin Rapids hotel. Patel purchased the hotel and officially took over in March and has already started working to clean up and update the facility. Patel and his staff have developed a three-year plan to make exterior and interior updates. The Whitney is open for lunch and will soon add a dinner menu. The group wants to update the restaurant, building The Whitney up to a more modern version of Café Milano.

Hobby Lobby is set to celebrate its new Stevens Point store next week . A company spokesperson told me the grand opening celebration will be May 6 at 5657 U.S. 10 E. The arts and crafts retail store will open in the former Copps grocery store.

Jersey Mike's Subs has plans for Plover . The company told me the local franchise owner is aiming to open Jersey Mike's in late June or early July at 176 Crossroads Drive, near Panda Express in Crossroads Commons. The location was the former site of Sweet Tea Clothing Co.

In other Stevens Point business news , I shared a few Streetwise updates. Mission Coffee House has extended its weekday hours into the evening at Artist & Fare, staying open until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. You can now find Mission Coffee House coffee at Dairy State Cheese in Rudolph, as well. Dilly Dahl Deli and Legacy Family Restaurant are now on DoorDash. The Wooden Chair also added online ordering for customers to place their orders and pick them up at the restaurant. The restaurant announced it would add delivery options soon, as well.
