WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man has died after a three-car crash where investigators said he was driving “aggressively.”

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, just before 5:30 p.m., they responded to a crash on University Parkway that involved three cars . Investigators say all three of the cars had been driving south on University Parkway, when the first vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala driven by Michael Eugene Montgomery, was “observed to be driving aggressively by following too closely and speeding.”

Police say Montgomery then hit two vehicles, a Ford SUV and a Jeep, and then collided with a metal light pole. Montgomery died at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the other driver and passengers were not hurt.

University Parkway reopened just before 1 a.m. on Friday.
