Raleigh's got a new 75-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton. Could it be a new species?
The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences has a new tenant — and it’s 75 million years old. An ostrich-like dinosaur specimen arrived in downtown Raleigh on Wednesday, a “remarkably preserved” skeleton that scientists believe could lead to the discovery of a new species. “This is exactly the kind of fossil paleontologists dream about,” Lindsay Zanno, the museums’ head of paleontology, wrote in a statement. “A beautifully preserved skeleton with the potential to tell us something genuinely new about dinosaur evolution.” Paleontologists with the museum excavated the skeleton from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah, alongside scientists from the Natural History Museum of Utah. Here’s what we know about changes for Red Hat and Monét’s canceled concert , including her offer to help Raleigh fans transfer their tickets to the Charlotte show. What’s happening to Red Hat? As of Wednesday, Oct. 21, Red Hat Amphitheater is located at 500 S. McDowell St. in Raleigh. This year, the outdoor venue’s lineup included artists from several genres, including Chance the Rapper and folk icon Bob Dylan. Now, Red Hat Amphitheater is preparing to wrap up the final season at its current spot. It will be moving one block across Lenoir Street to allow for the $387.5 million expansion of the Raleigh Convention Center, The News & Observer previously reported. The new concert venue is
