Cycle North Carolina Ride event begins, bringing influx of cyclists
Eastern North Carolina — Beaufort County is preparing for an influx of cyclists for the Cycle North Carolina Ride event starting today, April 26. The City of Washington is hosting this event from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28 that is anticipated to bring a lot of cycling enthusiasts to the area. Officials say the routes will span across Beaufort, Pitt and Martin Counties along various roadways.

Northside-Pinetown gets payback versus East with 16-6 win in softball rematch
YEATESVILLE — The East Carteret softball team lost its first league game of the season on Thursday to Northside-Pinetown after defeating the Panthers on a walk-off single two days earlier. East slipped to 7-1 in 1A/2A Coastal Plains Conference play and dropped to 9-10 overall witih the 16-6 loss.

Manteo put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eastern Christian HomeSchool Trailblazers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Manteo, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
