Williamston’s Steve Kersten and Ithaca’s Craig Snyder are headed to the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Kersten and Snyder were part of a class of 14 individuals announced as the newest inductees on Monday.

Kersten has been Williamston’s varsity football coach since 2001 and has compiled a 144-89 record. He has guided the Hornets to 16 playoff appearances, including each of the past eight years. Kersten guided Williamston to a Division 4 state runner-up finish in 2010 and helped the program reach the state semifinals in 2018 and 2020.

Snyder spent three decades as an assistant in the Ithaca football program and was a big part of the program’s success under former coach Terry Hessbrook. Ithaca won state titles in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 and had a 69-game winning streak from 2010 to 2014 that Snyder played a part of as the offensive coordinator.

Other inductees in this year's class include Millington’s Roger E. Bearss II, Hudsonville’s Jack Glass, Negaunee’s Paul Jacobson, Hillsdale’s Marc Lemerand, Saginaw Nouvel’s Greg Meter, Dearborn’s David Mifsud, Grosse Pointe Harper Wood’s Roedereck Oden, Belding’s Monty Price, Portage Northern’s Pete Schermerhorn, Bay City Central’s Tom Sullivan, Hudsonville Unity Christian’s Craig Tibbe and East Grand Rapids’ Jim Voss.

The class will be formally inducted June 21 during a banquet at the Detroit Marriott Troy.
