Westfall High School won the big trophy in the Battle Over Books Regional Championship.

Top students from Westfall, Teays Valley, Logan Elm and Logan-Hocking school districts answered questions from the books they had read before the competition that was held Friday at the Pickaway County District Public Library.

Prior to the event, the students had read from a list of ten books, including Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott, 1984 by George Orwell, Notes From the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick, and Ruta Sepetys’ I Must Betray You. The questions created by the teams’ advisors for the competition were from the ten titles and formatted so that the answer was the title of one of the books.

Friday, the teams competed against each other to see who could answer the most questions about the books quickly and correctly. After matches of an alternating question round and a lightning round each, whichever team had the most points moved on until two teams were remaining who then battled it out.

Mustangs’ team is comprised of Bailey Burke, Lidia Flowers, Morgan Wardell, Makalie Crabtree, Emma Dotson, Lauren Barnes, Ethan Medford, Kathryn Lockhart, Renae Brooks, and Allison Barnes.

Congratulations, Westfall High School!
