Severe Storm in Wisconsin Shows Cyclonic Hail is No Match for Composite Stone with Class 4 Hail Rating
With the rise in extreme weather events, having exterior cladding that can stand up to the elements has never been more important. This fact was driven home for residents of Westby, Wisconsin, this spring following a cyclonic hailstorm in which wind-driven hailstones, ranging from golf ball to baseball size, slammed sideways into their homes. Lasting up to 20 minutes, the damage was so severe that Vernon County was approved for FEMA Individual Assistance. A local news article wrote, “Glass shards, bits of siding and trim, and just about anything that the wind could blow now litters the streets and lawns.”

First Alert Day - Storms Likely This Morning Into the Afternoon
Staying unsettled with a few rain/storm chances into mid-week. Trending drier and cooler with highs in the 70s to wrap up the week. MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Today is now a First Alert Day as strong to severe storms will be possible. This morning, we are watching a storm complex back to our west in Iowa and Minnesota. The expectation is that these storms will congeal into a line that should move into southern Wisconsin during the mid to late morning hours, then exiting to the east during the early afternoon hours. The Storm Prediction Center has southern Wisconsin under a level ⅕ and level ⅖ risk for severe weather. The area with the highest threat level is in a line from La Crosse to Madison to Milwaukee southward. If storms become severe, strong wind gusts will be the main threat. Small hail and an isolated weak spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out, either.

Warmth gradually fades this week with mostly dry weather continuing
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - The heavier showers and thunderstorms early today brought some beneficial rainfall to Western Wisconsin, with the highest totals stretching from parts of Clark County southward to Monroe County. Locations within these counties reported 1-2.00″ of rain. We received just over 0.30″ here at the station in Eau Claire. The afternoon has finally seen a bit of sunshine return, while it is quite muggy with dew points well in the 60s. Other than a stray shower or thunderstorm through the evening, it will remain dry into tonight, with lows in the 60s. Monday will be dry with a partly to mostly sunny sky along with highs in the low and mid 80s. It will remain a bit humid but dew points are expected to at least drop into the lower 60s by later in the day. Another disturbance coming into the area from the upper levels will bring a chance for us to see a few more showers and thunderstorms later Monday night into early Tuesday. Some locally heavy rainfall will again be possible, but favoring southern areas,
