What we know of Wilkes-Barre death investigation

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We’re waiting to learn more about a death investigation in Luzerne County.

Authorities have not yet released any new information Wednesday, but here’s what we know so far.

Luzerne County Coroner Jill Matthews confirms a body was found in a wooded area along the North Cross Valley Expressway Tuesday.

Officials converged at the steep embankment near Exit 1 and behind the Host Inn All Suites Hotel.

Investigators were seen photographing the wooded area, using shovels, and placing planks of wood on the side of the hill. Police have not said what led them to the location, and the coroner has not released plans for an autopsy or the identity of the deceased.

The Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office is involved in this case. It’s a developing story that we are closely following.
