Zavala is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Lance Stoyer, patrol deputies were called to the victim's residence in the 33000 block of Breckenridge Trail, near Gafford Road, just before 10 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of an assault.

Stoyer said that when deputies arrived, they found the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, "suffering from stab wounds."

She was taken to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Zavala was taken into custody without incident at the property.

There was no word on a possible motive for the alleged attack.

Background information on the suspect was unavailable.
