WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A local organization finally sees its hard work pay off after the Fab 5 handed out scholarships Saturday evening.

The Fab 5 began their journey when they met on vacation. Since then, the group has received donations and held a fundraiser to award three $1,000 scholarships to students in the Wichita Falls ISD.

This is the first time the Fab 5 has given scholarships on their own.

Fourteen applicants submitted essays, which were read blindly. Each winner represented one of the three Wichita Falls high schools.

The group knows this couldn’t be possible without the help of the community.

“Being able to come full circle and see this come to an end like the way it did. Being able to choose these three recipients that we did. It feels good to be able to know that this is something that we can continue to empower striving to do better,” Fab 5 President Sonja Calliste said.

Rider’s Jocelynn McGee, Old High’s Natalie Perez, and Hirschi’s Anyece Robinson received their scholarships during a ceremony.

Congratulations to all three as they start their new chapter!
