According to Clay County Jail records, 35-year-old D’metrius Brooks is being held with no bond on charges of tampering with evidence, evading arrest and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

As of 11:45 a.m., Thursday, April 25, no bond had been set for Brooks.

The car chase started at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, when a deputy tried to stop the driver on the south side of Henrietta for an unsafe lane change.

From there, Sheriff Kirk Horton said the driver took off north on US 287. At the Highway 82 overpass, he tossed out a large bag that was later found to be methamphetamine.

Finally, near the Jolly Truck Stop, the sheriff said the man pulled over. Brooks has numerous convictions dating back to 2008 that are mostly drug-related. He was found to have also served one prison term.

Brooks’ arrests in Wichita County total 27 since 2007.
