Jordan Circus to return to Butte in 2025 despite elephant escape
BUTTE, Mont. — On Thursday, the Butte Civic Center board of directors met for the first time since the great elephant escape a few weeks ago. Just before noon on April 16, a few hours before the Jordan World Circus was set to perform, Viola the Asian elephant ran away from a fenced-in outdoor storage area when a truck backfired near where she was taking a bath. Her escape resulted in her becoming a viral sensation as she walked along Harrison Avenue and the surrounding area for about 15 minutes before trainers brought her back.

Car lands on top of 20-year-old driver in Jefferson Co. fatal rollover crash
Montana Highway Patrol reports that the person who died in the early morning crash in Jefferson County was a 20-year-old man from Boulder, Colorado, whose car rolled and landed on top of him. He was driving a Honda Civic with an 18-year-old female passenger, who survived the incident with injuries.
