$100 million travel sports complex coming to Borger
BORGER, Texas (KVII) — A $100 million sports complex is coming to Borger. In a press release, Borger Inc. (formerly Borger Economic Development Corporation) and 828 Sports Ventures announced that "828 Sports Ventures will be building one of the largest multisport complexes in Texas in the city of Borger."
Feeding America study says ‘food budget shortfall’ at highest level in 20 years
According to an annual Feeding America food insecurity study, the extra amount of money people facing hunger need to feed themselves and their families reached its highest point in the last 20 years, while regions including the High Plains have continued to see a climbing number of people in need.
Morning showers, evening southern storms
Starting the morning with temps in the 50s to low 60s across the High Plains. Beneficial rainfall made its way into the Texas Panhandle on Wednesday with showers still ongoing. As of 5 AM the highest amount of rainfall was in Silverton with an observation of 1.67″. We did have reports of tree damage with wind gusts up to 79 mph in 9 NNE Sunray. Cloudy skies with calm winds are in the forecast for today as temps will rise into the 70s. Expect a round of storms to move in from eastern New Mexico and into our southern counties. We dry out after this. Fire concerns can return as early as Sunday as temps will increase into the mid-90s with sunny skies and breezy conditions.

There was rarely an easy game for softball teams in District 4-4A this season, and the district’s depth has shown in the playoffs. Every playoff qualifier, Dumas, West Plains, Pampa and Randall, reached the Region I quarterfinals to face each other. Dumas and Pampa are the two left standing in the Region I semifinals as the Demonettes defeated Randall and the Harvesters topped West Plains. Dumas faces Sanger this week, and Pampa takes on Burkburnett this weekend.
