Bowling Green intersection project awarded state funds
BOWLING GREEN — An intersection improvement project near a planned factory site north of Bowling Green is among 14 projects statewide for which the Ohio Department of Transportation announced funding Thursday to support economic development. The project at Nims Road and State Rt. 25, sponsored by the city of Bowling Green, will include pavement reconstruction, new turn lanes, and a traffic signal for the Abbott baby formula plant now under construction at that corner. Construction is scheduled for 2026, the year Abbott expects to complete the $550 million plant at which it expects to employ 450 people. The $4.95 million funding package to Transportation Improvement Districts also includes $400,000 for restoration of part of McDougal Street in Fostoria to support a $100 million factory expansion there.

BOWLING GREEN — After a nationwide search that drew more than 50 applicants, the Wood County Health Department board has selected Lindsey Ruivivar to serve as the next chief executive officer of the Community Health Center. Her first day will be July 1. She will be paid $180,000 annually. Ms. Ruivivar has served in leadership roles in several community health centers, most recently serving as chief strategy officer for NEW Health in Chewelah, Wash. Perrysburg school leaders make case for limiting housing developments
If Perrysburg City Council can ban new car washes in the city, they can reign in housing developments that are stressing the school district, said one school board member. Sue Larimer of the Perrysburg Board of Education and Perrysburg schools Superintendent Tom Hosler spoke to council’s planning and zoning committee recently. “It seems to me that if we can put moratoriums on car washes, we can put moratoriums on more housing and more things that are draining our cities ... and especially our schools,” Ms. Larimer said. The three members of the council committee said it isn’t that easy to stop development.

COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Paula M. O’Reilly, managing director of Accenture in Columbus, to the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees through May 17, 2033.
